It will not fade

It will not fade, nor fret, or fear a voice
To touch the memory, a distant thing
That pings of yesterday, a chime that brings
The slightest stir to stagnant air, a choice
To raise the curtain call, this tapestry
Wherein the lost are found, a rueful smile,
Bound in this threadbare world, a life erstwhile,
Obsolete, stalled, filed in the actuary
Of loss and pain, and old terrors that claim
And turn the hope to rain, forgotten now,
Hidden away, but in the shadowed ground,
Buried deep, the anger stalks and the shame
That speaks of silence and of broken vows,
Pawing the air with dreams, that life confounds.
