Surprised I felt the wind

Surprised I felt the wind invoke such pain
Upon me now, and you who played that part,
As keeper of my dreams and of my heart,
An old memory; just a broken chain,
That rattles in the dark, a ghostly sigh,
Half forgotten now, as she sways the trees,
She seems to whisper in the night to me.
An urgent voice that listens for reply.
Thus in the sombre mind and deep recess,
Rain that patters on the glass, soft and slow,
Quieter now, yet, more silent than before,
Revives those thoughts of you and me, for though
These moments of my dreams I can’t possess,
That sang of you and me that sings no more.
