You who had grown so quickly
Nourished by the deep reservoirs of love,
Bloomed in such splendid colour
Under the summers sun above.
And in that time you blossomed
Your beauty was revealed,
To blind us to the dangers
That such beauty had concealed.
But now that winters coming
When the leaves begin to fall,
I see your colours fading
And your bloom begin to pall.
When the winter frost is biting
And black ice is on the ground,
I’ll remember how you dazzled
With such colours that astound.
And when the winters over
When spring is in the air,
I’ll long see your green shoots
Start to grow without a care.
