As time keeps etching lines across your face
That seem to deepen with each passing year
And though you live your life with so much grace
I see within your eyes a hidden fear
The passage of your youth to slow decline
Appalls you such that you must hide away
And hope that natures rhythms can be refined
To staunch the flow of time from blonde to grey
These youthful looks you’ve only ever chased
In your desire to be forever fresh
But beauty of a life cannot be based
On the mere banalities of the flesh
But if in living life without regret
The trifle of your looks you can forget
